Instructor Training and Licensing

SUNA™ PILATES is offering you the opportunity to become a licensed and fully accredited Suna Pilates Instructor and run your own business in locations all around New Zealand.

Our programme offers full initial training and ongoing support.
The SUNA™ PILATES Programme Options
Depending on how you want to set up your business you have a number of options to chose from – packages can be tailored to meet specific business requirements.

Mat Classes
The first option is to run mat classes only – can be run in community halls, school halls etc and has the advantage of low initial capital outlay. We have a number of Licensees running these in varied locations around New Zealand and demand is consistently high.

SUNA PILATES Circuit
A unique element of the SUNA PILATES programme is the opportunity to establish a circuit programme that enables clients to do as much Pilates as they wish at a very affordable price. The great thing about this option is that you can start with a relatively small amount of equipment and apparatus and add to the circuit as your business grows.

Full SUNA PILATES Programme
The other option is to establish a full SUNA PILATES studio – in a dedicated premises and offer a combination of mat classes, reformer, Cadillac and small apparatus classes plus one on one training.
The SUNA PILATES training
Trainers must attend and satisfactorily complete an initial training programme that includes the modules specific to the services that will be offered and only SUNA‰ PILATES licensees have access to this training.

The standard training programme for a fully qualified SUNA PILATES trainers includes:

A minimum of 80 hours of classroom training
∑ Additional homework and practical Pilates
∑ Structured observed training to ensure the trainer is capable of delivering the SUNA‰ PILATES programme to the required standards.
∑ A final exam to achieve accreditation.

For mat classes only, the training required is approximately half of this time.

Courses are run quarterly in our Auckland studio.
SUNA‰ PILATES Ongoing Training

In addition to our comprehensive initial raining programme, SUNA‰ PILATES trainers receive ongoing training, continuous development and an annual assessment. This ongoing training consists of one weekend each quarter in the Auckland studio where a number of elements will be covered:

Ç A refresher of the key SUNA‰ PILATES principles
Ç Training in new exercises that can be introduced into the trainers’ programmes with clients
Ç A deeper level of training in various elements of SUNA‰ PILATES, such as dealing with clients with specific injuries and tensions.
What does it cost?

There are four elements to the cost of setting up and running SUNA‰ PILATES programmes:

1. A license fee that is paid to be part of the SUNA‰ PILATES programme. This is a once only payment and provides you with access to all of the benefits of the SUNA‰ PILATES programme. The scale of this fee depends on whether you wish to offer mat classes only or the full programme.
2. A training fee for each trainer to cover the comprehensive initial training programme. Again, the amount of this fee depends on whether you will be offering a full programme or just mat classes.
3. The cost of the equipment to offer SUNA‰ PILATES programmes. (This will be minimal if you opt for mat classes only)
4. An ongoing monthly license fee that is charged per trainer each month that covers the costs of the ongoing programme development and enhancements and the costs of the quarterly training weekends.

Costs of license fees and equipment range from around $2,000 for mat classes through to around $25,000 for full mat, circuit and reformer training.

The fees for initial training are from $3,000 to $6,500 depending on the level of training required to support the services to be offered and the monthly support and training fee is between $150 and $500 per trainer.
